Richard Harvey, also most of people known
as Sidewinder Sam or Good looking Sam.
He was a World War II Marian Corps
Veterans, father, grandfather, grate grandfather. Passed away on September 5th,
2013 in Scott & White hospital in Temple Texas.
Sam passed quietly while Rena was next
to him in 1:00AM on Sep. 5th 2013.
Sam is survived by Rena Chang Hoot, a
lover, a life partner, a working partner, who he had been with together since
1990.
He was cremated as his wish, by
Heritage Funeral Home in Harker Heights, Texas. 1947 Richard joined the Marine Corps at age 16
Richard Harvey was born in St. Louis,
Missouri in 1931 of a Native American mother and a Russian father. They
produced a devote nature lover who shares his love of the great outdoors, its
wildlife and his native American culture through his paint brushes and canvas.
He was an associate member in Oil
Painters of America. And in the early 1970’s was one of the original members of
the Northwest Artists organization.
Richard was accepted to exhibit in the
National Wildlife Show of 1979, which featured 265 of the world finest wildlife
artists. He was also awarded the First Runner Up prize in the State of
Missouri’s First Duck Stamp Competition.
One of Richard’s painting “On the Run”
won Best of Show at the Corpus Christi Art Museum’s 1983 show. The Same
painting also won Best of Show in the Wildlife Category. Another of his paintings, “Jetty’s End” won
Best of Show in the Seascape Category.
In the mid 1990’s, Richard became one
of the original artist members of the Academy of Western Artists based in Gene
Autry, Oklahoma.

He stared to work with Dragon Lady
Tattoos in 1988 until about 2 years ago. He created so many art works, and
marked on so many people’s mile stones in their lives.
He had drawing and painting classes from 2009 to
2011 in local Hobby Lobby Creative Center. He used the entire fee that his students gave to him on the food for Dogs, cats and goats; they are his orphanhood kids.
